Before buying this product, click on [...] in order to review the manual. Fortunately I did, and I decided not to buy. I had sent them an e-mail with questions, and their answers were all “yes”. Wrong! In discovering the manual, and thus discovering that I had been vastly misinformed with all these “yes” answers, I contacted them again for clarification. No response! Bottom line: I wouldn’t do business with a company I don’t feel I can trust.

I am writing a review because I couldn’t find one anywhere to help me make a decision. For that reason, I bought mine on another site (www.isokineticsinc.com) because they have a more generous return policy in addition to the free shipping. I am very pleased that the watch is reasonably priced, small, doesn’t require a strap, offers so many features (especially the hi/ lo target zones), and was so easy to program, read and use! Can be used to 30m. so I don’t mind getting it sweaty or wet. Comes with one year warranty. I just wish it came in more colors, or at least black.

So far all I can do is set the time on this thing. It will not measure my heart rate. I am ready to send it back.

This step counter and heartbeat monitor works well with one major exception– it resets the time and date to the package date and must be reset at least once a week. This is very annoying.

I actually quit wearing this… It turns out that every little jiggle makes this move. Within an hr. of wearing it I had walked 5,000 steps and hadn’t done more than drive to the store and drive home. I am disappointed. I suppose if you only wear it when you walk/jog/run then it would be fine, I was more hoping to see how many steps I walked in an ordinary day. The judgment will have to be yours – but if you are looking for the same thing I was, I think the $10 clip on from any store would be more beneficial.

I bought this pedometer watch since it was difficult to always wear my waist-clip pedometer with certain clothing. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money, I just wanted something reasonably-priced that worked “reasonably” well. The pedometer watch meets both of these criteria.

The watch keeps excellent time, but the pedometer isn’t quite accurate as it frequently adds steps just when putting it on. The booklet says it doesn’t start counting until after 16 steps, but that isn’t true at all. Compared to my waist pedometer, it adds more than half again as many steps. For a 10,000 step day (per my waist pedometer) the pedometer watch will register around 17,000 steps.

Although my waist pedometer wasn’t expensive, it did make me calibrate the length of my stride, weight, etc., in order to calculate mileage, calories burned, etc. (I didn’t know from the description of the pedometer watch that you wouldn’t be required to do this.)

For my purposes, since I still wear my waist pedometer when possible, the pedometer watch is sufficient. It keeps good time and the background light is great for checking the time in dark places (i.e., theatres, etc.) It’s not the most attractive thing, but its water resistance and durability are nice added features.

For someone who wants an easy way of tracking their activity level from day to day, and/or is willing to determine the accuracy of the pedometer watch before relying on it soley, this isn’t a bad purchase. For someone who wants solid accuracy, you may want to look elsewhere.

Great watch to keep track of your steps and exercise regime. Comfortable to wear, and keeps great time.

I would like to apologize to the previous reviewer for ordering this item, disregarding their negative review of the programming on this pedometer. The programming is ridiculously complicated, and the instructions are not really much help, since they are written for four different pedometer units.

Product arrived quickly, and was packed well; however, this item simply didn’t work when it arrived. The buttons were hard to press and sometimes activated on their own, and I ended up having to cycle menus several different times to get to the setting I wanted. I tried everything to get the pulse meter to read, to no avail. Even when I could clearly feel a pulse on my own, the pulse meter couldn’t read. I’d be better off with a stopwatch.

The unit is attractive and has features and a price that I like; however, I am returning it for a refund (rather than exchange) because I am simply not willing to go through the programming ordeal (which is required every time you change the battery) all over again.

I bought this in a store because of all the functions it had. I haven’t used it in awhile and just got it back out of my drawer and can’t figure out how to work it. I looked for the manual and had to download a PDF file from Oregon Scientific’s website. I then spent 45 minutes trying to get it to work. The directions are not complete because when I do what they say to do it doesn’t work. I resorted to just pushing buttons to see what happens. The battery is fine; but no matter what I do it won’t count at all. Nothing.

The menus are just too complicated for such a little device, and I don’t consider myself to be technologically challenged, either. Another reviewer mentioned that the buttons are not clear — that is, you can’t easily tell when you’ve pressed them. I agree.

All I want is a plain pedometer to count steps. I’ve given up on the calorie count and timer functions. I’m looking to replace this with something less fussy, and I just want something with two or three buttons, not menu systems.

Maybe none of these type of devices work very well, but this one is no exception. The user interface is very cumbersome to use, configuration is complicated. All we really wanted to do is count steps and occasionally check heartrate. But this device seems to discourage that. The buttons are not very positive acting either, you can’t tell if you’ve pushed them or not. But if you really deliberately test it, it will count steps. I’m afraid it will also count a few hundred steps sitting on the table over night. We are about ready to throw this gem away.

As everyone has said total rubbish as almost impossible to programme and work as intendedOregon Scientific PE826 Pedometer with Pulse Meter

  • 11 Lay

This thing wasn’t designed well. Maybe they tried to do too much with it. The programming is very complex and impossible without the instructions (and the instructions are not written well either). Now after my final use before I return it, the battery and holder slide out as I run and resets the program, and erases everything I was trying to track.

The disappointment with this unit will definitely affect my decision to buy anything from Oregon Scientific.

Conclusion: DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT!!! Even if you get it for free, the time and aggravation are not worth it and will not do the job intended. If I could give it less than one star I would!!
