Their delivery took forever (3? weeks) and I am having difficultly getting the sending unit (chest band) to transmit to the watch receiver. As of yet it hasn’t worked however, I have not given up yet, but it has been over a 45 minutes of fuss’en with what seems to be a simple device.

I find the product to be quite accurate. I clip on to my jeans pocket as with the weight I need to lose, my tummy overrides my waist band and then does not give an accurate reading. Once I clipped to my jeans pocket and used it, I found it to be quite accurate and easy to use. I love the fact the company even included a replacement battery free of charge.

I bought this product because of a recommendation from a satisfied user. Within the first few days, I had highly recommended it to 2 others. But then a week after I received it, the pedometer stopped working! The stopwatch and clock functions still worked, and switching the battery did not help. Unfortunately, although I emailed Acumen as was required in order to get a shipping number for return and repair under warranty, Acumen never responded. Now I’m out $25 and stuck with a pedometer that doesn’t work! Help!

I found that I do not like the buttons I have to push to get the ten thousand steps going. It is not straight forward.

Easy to use without a lot of features I didn’t need. After I adjusted the stride, the 3.6 mile stats were accurate. Needs a tether cord so you don’t drop it.

I have owned many pedometers over the years but this is one of the best. I like the ease of use for setting up parameters (stride length, weight) and reveiwing results after a walk or run. It does about all you need: distance traveled, elapsed time, number of steps, average speed and calories. I compared to the one I have been using and it seems to be as accurate as any of these devices. I do have to wear it on my ankle to get an good count of steps taken. I tried it on my waist and it only counted about a third of the steps compared to my old pedometer. No big deal though. It is larger than most pedometers I’ve used but it alson has a larger, more readable display. One feature I like is that it doesn’t start counting steps or timing until the start button is pushed. Not a huge deal either but nice to have. Also works for walking or running. Overall a great, easy to use product with plenty of features.

I liked the Acumen above all the others I have surveyed. I received this as a gift. It clips on and is easy to read. It measures steps, stride, and distance. I used it for my 10,000 steps program. I passed it on to a new walker and upgraded to the Pulse Mate by Acumen, because it is as good as this one with the added plus of counting calories burned, miles and the PULSE METER which helps tremendously in my circuit training. See where walking can lead! People actually stopped me on the street and in the gym to ask where I bought it.

Just what we were looking for. We have had this product before, but left it in our hotel in England. Easy to read and to use. Great price.

Got this as a present for my wife. It stops reading the heart rate in the middle of the workout. No resets help. We’re sending it back on the one-year warranty and you have to send in $7.50 with it in addition to the postage to get it there. Disappointing. Hope it will work when it returns.

It took me a long time to decide on a heart rate monitor, and after a good deal of opinion research and shopping around, I chose this one. I wanted the basics at a great price, and I have been very, very pleased with the Acumen!

    PROS:
*Relatively small band on the watch…in other words, not a gigantic wristband that is made for a man
*My watch came with a replacement wristband and a replacement battery for the monitor
*Fairly easy to use, once I got through the initial set-up process and figured some things out (largely by trial-and-error)
*Readings seem to be quite accurate
    *Monitor/strap is quite comfortable

    CONS:
*Not the easiest manual in the world to follow (not the worst, but not great). Especially since I am new to heart rate monitors, I found it tricky to get set up and get started.
*Could not find any online support on the company’s web site for trouble-shooting when I was in the set-up and intial use process (other than a pdf of the manual, which I was already using!).

I oredered an acumen heart rate monitor after having one for over fifteen years. The one I had didn’t break it literally wore out so I figured it was time to get a new one. I ordered through Amazon and it came from Heart Rate Monitors USA. When it arrived it was dead, I tried everything to wake it up with no success. So, I called Heart Rate Monitors USA and they said to call Acumen directly since it was new and DOA. I called Acumen and spoke with the best customer care representative ever ( if you ever call Acumen’s customer service dept. you better hope that Ingrid answers the phone ). She sent me a brand new replacement and it works perfectly. She also covered shipping and returning charges. I’m very happy with my acumen heart rate monitor and the customer service I recieved. If you are looking for a very acurate HRM I would definitely recommend this one. It’s amazing how inacurate the HRMs on the machines are, be careful…according to my Acumen HRM I am only burning half the calories indicated by the Eliptical and Treadmill in my gym. So don’t be fooled into thinking you’ve burned 600 calories after 45 minutes on the treadmill you’ve only burned 300 calories.

I am satisfied with this vendor. The only drawback was I had ordered the heart monitor with a blue face, it came with a black face. Item packaged well, works great and delivery was extra fast. Would order again from this vendor.

I was orignally going to purchase the more expensive Polar F6 heart rate monitor watch but after talking to my mother who has this acumen hrm, i decided not to. I’m so happy I did! This hrm is everything I was looking for at a much cheaper price than the more popular polar watches. I also have very small wrists so this is the perfect size. would def recommend it!

This is my first HR Monitor and I was initially very happy with the price and ease of use. However after about 3 mos. it began to malfunction indicating my HR was 200+ even while I was at rest. The only thing I can figure out is something happened while using it in the pool for my training (chlorine levels?? suggested by one website I found). The timing was particularly poor as it stopped working 1 week before my 1st triathlon and I was forced to purchase another monitor to use, so I probably won’t even pursue a return. I guess I got what I paid for.

I have owned this product since Nov 2004. I have found this watch to be reliable and durable. Not too fancy, I just wanted to track my heart rate and calorie consumption. To replace the watch battery was a little tricky but I managed it. I lost the owners manual and can not find one on line. So it has taken me a little extra time to get the watch back to the correct time and date, but otherwise I have been satisfied with my purchase.

I was satisfied with this product for the first 28 days I used it. On the 29th, the watch display went bizerk and then died entirely.
